Banks Hockey Festival
One of the largest hockey events in the hemisphere and certainly
one of the most cosmopolitan and exciting events in the entire
world of hockey. Teams from Europe and the UK, North America
and the Caribbean take part in this weeklong explosion of
Caribbean warmth, music and culture combined with excellent
hockey played at historic pitches.
The Banks International Hockey Festival attracts teams from
across the globe - Barbados, the Caribbean, Europe, Britain,
South America, the United States and Abu Dhabi.
The festival, described as the biggest single annual field
hockey tournament in the hemisphere, is divided into men's,
women's, veterans and mixed-team divisions.
The hockey is competitive yet friendly, and visiting teams
take the opportunity to enjoy the fine weather and warm Barbadian
hospitality.
The astroturf at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex provides
a world-class surface on which parts of the tournament will
be played.

Grand Kadooment Day
The grande finale of the Crop Over Festival is the Grand
Kadooment! This carnival parade features large bands with
members dressed in elaborate costumes to depict various themes.
Designers compete for the coveted Designer of the Year prize
while the revelers seem more intent on having a good time!
The revelers make their way from the National Stadium to Spring
Garden accompanied by the pulsating rythym of calypso music.
When they reach Spring Garden, the party continues with more
fantastic music, lots of food and drink and, for some, a quick
swim at the nearby beach. A grand end to a grand festival.
Crop Over - more than a carnival!
